Exporting a .dvw
Export writes the match as a .dvw file, the scouting file DataVolley 4 and VolleyStation Pro read. Send it to a coach, open it in another program, or keep it as a copy outside the season.
Export the match
- In the match, click Export in the top bar, or press Ctrl+E (⌘E on a Mac).
- Pick a folder and a name. The name starts as the two teams, for example
Harbour City VC - Riverside Volley.dvw. - If the match has a video, Courtside asks whether to put the video's location in the file (see below).
- The command bar says "Exported" and the file's path.
You can export at any point: mid-match, after each set, or at the end. Each export writes the match as it stands.
The video's location
A .dvw can name the video file it goes with, so another program can open the video with it. The location is a path on your computer, which can show folder and user names. So Courtside asks every time:
Put the video's location in the file?
- Include it: the file names the video, as you opened it.
- Leave it out: the file has no video location. This is the safe choice for a file you send to someone else.
Matches without a video don't ask.
What's in the file
- The match: date, venue (hall and city), teams, each team's head coach and assistant coach and shirt colour, and each team's player list from the match roster, with every player's starting zone in each set. The teams' names, coaches and shirt colours come from the teams as they are when you export (see Team details).
- The sets: the scores, and each set's length. A length you gave when ending the set is used; otherwise it comes from the clock.
- The codes: every code in order, with the time of day it was coded and its video time in whole seconds.
- The tables: winning symbols, attack combinations and setter calls, as the match has them.
- The program: the file says it was written by Courtside.
An imported match
For a match you imported from a .dvw, the export starts from the original file and changes only what you changed. The teams' coaches, shirt colours and the venue stay as the file has them. Sections Courtside doesn't use, and the file's text encoding, are kept. A file you didn't touch comes out the same as it went in.
