Importing a .dvw
Import a .dvw to work on a match someone coded in DataVolley, VolleyStation or another program: check it, fix it, watch it with video, or play its clips.
Import a file
- Open the season the match belongs in.
- On the main menu, click Import .dvw.
- Pick the file.
The match opens in the console, and appears on the Matches tab with the file's name.
What happens to the teams
The file's two teams and their players join the season:
- A team that's already in the season, with the same name, is reused. Players it doesn't have yet are added.
- A team that isn't there yet is created with the file's players, its head coach and assistant coach, and its shirt colour. The file's team code becomes the team's code, unless another team in the season already has it.
If a team's name is spelled differently from the one you have, you get a second team. Merge them afterwards.
The match gets its own match roster, copied from the file. Changes you make to it go back into the file's player lists when you export.
What's kept
- Every code, as written. Codes Courtside can't read are kept too, and Checks list them.
- Comments (lines starting with
>), such as challenges and referee notes. - The original file, so an export changes only what you changed.
- The text encoding. Files that don't say which encoding they use are read in the most likely one.
- The venue, if the file has one. It shows on the starting lineup screen.
- The video's location, if the file names one. The video panel offers to open it.
- The file's combination table, used when you type in this match. If it has none, the season's is used.
After importing
- Look at Checks. Files from other programs often have rotation or score slips that nobody noticed.
- If a set was won but the file has no set end, Courtside asks you to end the set.
- Open the video and click Sync if the times don't line up.
If a file won't import, see A file that won't open.
