A file that won't open
A season won't open
The start screen shows the reason in red under the buttons.
- The file was moved or renamed. Click Open season and pick it where it is now.
- It's on a drive that isn't connected, such as a USB stick or a network folder. Connect it, or copy the file to your computer and open the copy.
- It isn't a season file. Season files end in
.courtside. A.dvwis a match: open a season first, then import it.
Seasons from older versions of Courtside are brought up to date when you open them.
A .dvw won't import
- The button isn't there. Import .dvw appears once a season is open.
- It's a VolleyStation
.vsmfile. The app imports.dvwonly. Export a.dvwfrom VolleyStation. - The import stops with an error. Note what it says. Run
courtside validateon the file to see what's wrong with it (see The courtside command), and if it opens in DataVolley, use Report a problem and attach the file to the email yourself.
Courtside reads files leniently: odd codes and values are kept as written, and Checks list them, so most files import even when they have mistakes.
The names look wrong
Accented letters showing as other characters mean the file's text encoding was guessed wrong. This happens with files that don't say which encoding they use. Use Report a problem with the match open and Attach this match ticked.
A team file won't import
Courtside reads DataVolley .sq and VolleyStation .vst team files. The error under the buttons on the Teams tab says what went wrong.
A Courtside .dvw won't open elsewhere
See Opening in DataVolley 4 and VolleyStation Pro, and use Report a problem with the match attached.
